Thanks, that was a nice surprise!  I thought MoneyTips only refreshed the date on their site.  They must have added it onto a content farm or some sort of affiliate network.

Waaaay back at FinCon13, Michael Dubrow wanted volunteers for video interviews.  I sneaked into the hospitality suite (along with a few rockstar bloggers and financial advisors who are earning 6-7-figure incomes) and took my turn in the chair.  I got to watch Jeff Rose go through his interview first.  I was totally at ease when I sat down to do my part.  Michael and I clicked because he's lived on Maui and he now runs a VC firm (along with MoneyTips).  He's a professional videographer so he made us all look good on camera while handing out a lot of tips to the bloggers who do their own videos.

They quietly posted it on their site in early 2014 and we all forgot about it.

It starts out with military retirement info but then segues into Reserve/National Guard retirements and ways to achieve financial independence even after just one military service obligation.

No scripts, although I think Michael had jotted down a few questions on his index card.  I think it's the best interview I've ever done, and we did it all in one take.  I hope I can do an interview like that again someday, but this one should certainly be good for a few years!

Excellent jobs Nords! As a now retired Navy Chief Petty Officer (submarines) I applaud your efforts for educating those currently in the military or thinking the military may be an option as a career or partial career. I was glad to see you mention the Reserves and National Guard as options as that was the path I took to my 21 year career. I was active duty Navy for 12.5 years and then transferred to the Navy Reserves where I completed my 21 years in September 2007.

Very impressed by the interview - now I have a voice to go with your online moniker (and a first name - Doug!).
I've found your responses on this forum to be incredibly insightful and well written. So in short... thanks!

You're all welcome-- happy to help.

Reserve/National Guard retirements are even more confusing (if possible) than active-duty retirements or simply separating from the service.  I get most of my questions from readers dealing with the Reserve/Guard systems.

By the way, Exprezchef, nice dolphins!  Don't see that edition much anymore.  Depending on where you were, you might have crossed paths with John Inman, Murray Snyder, and the legendary Reed Popovich?
