Renting out your House
« on: July 13, 2013, 08:56:00 AM »
I know Mr. Money Mustache rents out his house while he is on vacation. Does anyone else do this? If you do, I would appreciate it if you could answer some of my questions. We live in a highly mobile military town with no temporary housing other than mediocre hotels within a 20 mile radius. I am interested in this idea, but need more information. :)

  • How do you advertise your house?
  • How long do you rent it out?
  • What do you do with your tools, pantry food supplies, cold stores food, pictures....?
  • Do you have any extra insurance, or liability coverage?
  • Do you pay any extra taxes or insurance

Thoughts, Comments....

I have never done this but have you looked at airbnb?  I believe you can rent your place out by the night/week.

We haven't rented out our own apartment, because our condo association doesn't allow short-term sublets, but try AirBnB or Vacation Rental By Owner.
Have friends who have had good experiences with both.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
