Question for those of you who have self published
« on: April 15, 2016, 07:16:38 PM »
Hello,

I've written a YA novel that I want to self publish on amazon.  I'm planning to use a pen name, but I'm wondering how I should handle copyright in this case.

On the kindle forums people suggest putting a copyright sign and your name at the bottom of each novel page. If I use a pen name, I can't do that, as I don't legally own that name.

I know a lot of mustachians have self published, so I thought I'd ask if any one of you have encountered this situation. If so, how did you handle it?

Also, can I still register my novel with the writers guild under my current name?

Best,

ckat

For my book, I just got the copyright registered with the Library of Congress or some such thing, I don't quite remember. I don't think you need your name on every page of the book. That would look strange. And also the kindle text format can't really be downloaded and ripped off, if that's what you're worried about.
