I'm looking at switching from T-Mobile to PTel (mostly because I already know I like the network).
I'm probably going to go with the $35 plan. OR go with the $25 plan and pick up a freedompop hotspot and get the 500MB internet for free. I recently got Google Fiber (free) and they finally installed routers throughout the building at work. At this point, I need mobile internet for retail arbitrage, and 500MB should be plenty unless I start dedicating more time to it.
Currently I have a government discount through T-Mobile, which only applies to the $50 and up plans. I could switch down to the $40/month plan, but since I wouldn't get the discount, with fees I'd be paying just as much or more as I am with the $50 plan on discount.
My question is... what fees are added onto that $35 (or $25)? I'm pretty sure PTel doesn't do discounts like my T-Mobile discount (at least, I can't find anything on the website about it), so the fees are something I'd like to take into account while I'm deciding what to do.

There are no fees added on. They don't even charge sales tax, which means you technically have to remit manually at the end of the year to your state if you're honest enough to do so.
No, they do not do ongoing discounts.
Keep in mind that the $25 plan isn't no-internet, it's just 128KB 2G/EDGE speed throttled. It's quite usable for everything and anything text based... it's only multimedia content that starts to hurt. That said, there is a $20/month talk and text only plan.
