Planning a Mustachian Getaway
« on: December 29, 2013, 12:34:14 AM »
I got a couple of vacation days coming up in January and we'd like to take a trip somewhere. It's from January 23-27. We're in Colorado Springs. We have no car. We'd like to visit interesting places in a nearby state, maybe take the Amtrak or Greyhound bus.

Any ideas of places to go and to keep this trip mustachian? Thanks!

ETA Husband REFUSES to stay at an airbnb and wants hotel.

Is your husband opposed to a VRBO?  Do you have a drivers license to where it makes renting a car feasible?

I quote "I refuse to stay in someone else's house!" *le sigh*
I haven't checked out vrbo yet. Will do.

We both don't have driver's licenses. I don't know how to drive and husband got in trouble driving without a license when he was a teenager and never got one.

I was thinking of just s couple nights at The Broadmoor but it's so pricey! And it's like 20 minutes away from our house. Lol

Decided and booked Vegas. 1128 for four nights at the Hard Rock hotel with air fare included, flying out of our local airport. We're both excited, never been to Vegas.

Found a LOT of free stuff to do and maybe we'll do some museums and a show. Maybe one nice dinner out. Gonna check out Fremont St for some free/cheap entertainment and food and drinks too.

Vegas can be cheap. Remember that things tend to be cheaper the farther you are from the strip. The last couple times I have stayed in Vegas we stayed at a hotel not on the strip and the stores there were insanely cheaper.

We will be a mile away from the Strip. Too bad Brinet Spears doesn't have a show during those nights. I love her.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
