Title: Organizing tasks help
Post by: FastStache on January 26, 2014, 07:35:15 PM
I'm trying to get more organized with any task I need to do in the future. My wife is a SAHM and I'm at work and do have internet access, but email and such is not allowed. I can't really use my phone since I have Ting and like to keep the usage down. I'm looking for something on the web, and hopefully with an app too that two of us access together. I basically need to make different lists for say tax things, house cleaning, property searches, etc. and somehow organize it into a master task list.

Like rememberthemilk.com ? You can make different tabs for things, and name those tabs / lists, and check them off, make notes, assign them to people, etc.  It's a freemium model, and I've only ever used the free version.  If you want an app you can pay to allow it to update more frequently.  Since you want to keep phone use down, that shouldn't be a problem.

I've used RTM for tasks lists for various jobs as well as "to do soon" and "to do eventually" lists.

Cozi is another good option.  It allows you to share to-do lists, shopping lists, and a calendar.  It can be accessed via the web or via app.  It also has free and premium versions, and of course, I use the free one. :-)

I like Evernote-  its free and pretty easy to use.

Another free option, which i've done in the past, is to simply use dropbox.  Set up a free dropbox account that your wife and yourself can access anywhere, and then have various lists in there, as either spreadsheets or word documents.

I use Wunderlist. It's free. I have the app on my home computer, access via the web on my work computer and have the app on my phone. It's a very simple way to keep lists. I have lists there in lots of various categories.

I also use Evernote and Dropbox, but Wunderlist is better for lists-- For me, Evernote is more for keeping notes and Dropbox is for accessing the files I need from various computers.

I use workflowy.com. It's free for up to 250 items per month. Real basic interface, but works. Has an app too.

What about GNotes.  Can be used on computer or with an app on Android.
