I dont' have any cable tv bill but need my internet. I spend most of my time googling, reading & watching youtube.
Cox Cable has monopoly on Internet in my area, and it's frustrating. Best I could get them to do was give me 180 mbps plan for $59.99 per month (they normally wanted $99 for it). They promised me $59.99 for 2 years, no commitment.
I really wish I could get a 10 to 20 mbps plan for $20 per month but it seems impossible to do. Makes me sick I am forking out $40 extra per month for more bandwidth than I need.
Any ideas?

Not sure where you are but this provider overlaps Cox in my area. Good luck!

Satellite internet is pretty much always a backup solution. They have limits on how much data you use though, so keep that in mind. Check out Hughesnet or Viasat. In my case they were more expensive than DSL, but cheaper than cable. If all you have is cable, maybe they'll work for you.

I would kill for half your speed at double the cost. My only option is crappy 6mbps DSL for $50/mo. Look into DSL options, EarthLink often resells AT&T service.

Is it illegal to share an internet connection with neighbor? Or unethical? They charge too darn much.

I feel for you. Unfortunately DSL isn't offered here for some reason.. lazy AT&T .. it's a depressed yet urban part of town too go figure.

It's usually/probably against their terms of service, but I think the odds of getting busted are pretty low.
