My retirement planning
« on: June 23, 2019, 03:59:37 AM »
Hi,

Taking a stab at planning the retirement, appreciate suggestions, criticism, advice! :)

Assumptions
    - [ ] Plan to retire in 3 years at 40
    - [ ] Expected inflation 4%
    - [ ] SWR of 1% to preserve and protect savings against inflation
    - [ ] 1.2 M property in HCOL
    - [ ] Family of four

l would like to see my wealth preserved. Hence looking at the IRR 5%, 1% SWR goes to spending and 4% to hedge against inflation in a HCOL Asian city - that’s how I got the 5%. 4% inflations is in a HCOL in Asia. I can live 2000 USD comfortably. My plan is also plan for family family and this includes letting future kids have good education so some money needs to be set aside.

Based on above assumption, I came up with the magic number 4.2M. 3M to sustain inflation of 1% SWR and 3% inflation and 1.2M to buy my apartment in HCOL.

Did I miss out anything ?

Note: I currently have about 1.5M USD in equity so still need 2.7M before retiring.

I’m not sure we can teach you anything, but please, dear god, teach us how to make 2.7m in 3 years!
