So I'm assuming previously you were paid hourly, with overtime for the overtime and made X. They are now saying that you will be working less overtime, but salary. The problem is, most salary jobs do not have defined hours, you are paid more for the job than the hours, therefore any overtime is not additionally compenstated. Call me cynical, there is a reason that your employer wants to hire you for salary. they figure they will pay less with you on salary not paying overtime, than paying you hourly (unless you have a different job description). Do you really think you will stop working additional hours with that set up? I guess I'm just cynical, unless there are clear workplace rules and plans for how much salary workers are expected to work, or have something in advance with them stating expected work hours. Don't have an answer to this, but either have in writing no overtime or what expected hours will be, or demand a salary that even if working the same or more amount of overtime you are compensated.
