My local car share company (competitor to Zipcar) got bought out and shut down. Zipcar's annual fee is not worth it for the 2-3 times per year I'd be using it. I've recently discovered Maven is an alternative in my area and appears to not have annual fees. So the purpose of this post is twofold:
- Has anyone used Maven? How is it?
- Does anyone have a Maven referral code/link?
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, Maven is pulling out of Chicago.

Ugh of course it is. Zipcar just isn't that good, but it's the only option around here since competition can't seem to survive in this area. Oh well. Thanks for the info.

Would Car2Go suit your needs?

Why not just use Turo? You can rent a car for like $20/day and find one that is within walking/public transit of where you live/work.
Also, if you use a referral link (like this one: https://turo.com/en-us/c/dougd), you get $25 off the first rental, which basically gets you the first rental free if you are renting a cheap car.
As a car nerd myself, I also like that you can get more interesting vehicles for the same price as boring economy cars from a normal rental company.
