Matching paint - HELP!!!
« on: June 20, 2014, 11:40:08 AM »
Any DIYers out ther know a way to match ceiling paint without cutting a chip out and having it computer matched? I need to pain over a spot and I do not want to paint the whole ceiling or have mismatched paint.

Thanks

Cut the chip out and have it computer matched. Even then, it might not match perfectly and you might have to paint the whole ceiling.

Sorry, but there are no shortcuts for that.

you'd need a sample of the color, chip/otherwise, when I volunteered at habitat for humanity before, I've mixed paint to match a color from someone's phone picture before :S can't guarantee the paint matches since the camera doesn't catch the color correctly but it might be the easiest if you don't have a sample of the color to :S and paint there is pretty cheap if you have one near you

is it an odd color? Could you replicate it pretty well using a paint kit then take that color in?

I brought a paint chip into a paint store once for work and they matched it perfectly, so I'd give that a shot.

We have a pop out hatch to get access to the attic that is painted the same as the ceiling. I brought the hatch in.
