Mustachian Celebrations

Hello,

This May, we started paying off $178k of student loans (split roughly half between 6.9 and 7.8%).  This will be a long project; 3-6 years depending on income/life/diligence.  I thought it would be nice to do a little celebration each time the balance dipped to the next $10k increment.  And, at the end of this month, we will knock the total into the 160s.

In the past, we might celebrate by going to a fancy restaurant, going out for drinks at a cool bar, etc. But now we are Apprentice Mustachians with a 6mo babby.

Some ideas: make a fancy meal at home, maybe bottle of wine and eat outside?  Movie night at home?

I'm sure you guys have some more creative ideas.  Please share.  Thanks!

socaso

One of my favorite inexpensive things to do is to try happy hours at different restaurants and bars. If you like that idea then you could compile a list of happy hours at some places you'd like to try and choose from the list when you hit your milestones. My husband and I usually spend about $30-$40 total. It's a fun way to try out restaurants on the cheap.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
