IRA Matching - Fidelity
« on: April 06, 2015, 04:51:36 PM »
Today when looked at Mint account there was an offer from Fidelity about them matching 10% of my IRA contributions for 3 years up to $1950.

Is this a good deal? My traditional IRA is on Vanguard VTSMX. Is there any other companies offering a matching? The Wife and I try to max out our IRA's every year.

Thanks

Are you referring to this offer? If so, you should be aware that you need to transfer in an existing IRA with over $500k (and be old enough to make "catch-up contributions") in order to receive the maximum $1,950 match. Someone under 50 who transfers in a "mere" $50k will only be eligible for a $247.50 payout under this program. Nothing to sneeze at, sure, but likely not enough to convince me to switch away from Vanguard.
