Inexpensive getaways
« on: February 25, 2014, 02:30:40 AM »
My husband's birthday is on April and our son was going to come in for a surprise visit with his almost fiancé. However, she's been sick and had to use up all of her leave and he has drill that weekend.  My next thought was a discount cruise, but my mom is under hospice so I don't want to be inaccessible.

So...I'm looking at other options in Florida. I would love a romantic place but I'm not about to pay $200-$300 a night.  That's ridiculous!

Are there any particular websites you go to for "deals?"

Favorite Florida getaway (I am from the north) was Amelia island near Jacksonville. Residence inn and Hampton inn are close to the beach and reasonably priced. Residence inn has kitchens in the room, free breakfast, and bbqs certain nights of the week.

St. Augustine is beautiful and not very expensive.

Thanks so much for the suggestions!  Amelia Island, is a little closer than St. Augustine, and we've never been there.  I'm really leaning toward the Residence Inn!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
