I finally did it.
« on: October 02, 2013, 08:58:06 AM »
I am an avid cyclist, but could never come to terms with riding to work as I need to be well dressed, we don't have a shower, etc.

After some careful planning I went ahead and did it, feeling great all morning so far mentally and physically.  Thanks MMM

My commute is 8.5 miles through a somewhat urban area.  I was riding on a 6 lane road (3 lanes each way).  I am not going to lie, it's much worse/scarier than my regular weekend rides out in the country, but it was managable.  It was about 30 minutes, could've been significantly faster if it wasn't for traffic/lights/backpack.

You managed to go about 17 mph through an urban area with traffic lights? Nice!!

Don't know what your parking situation is but I found when I started biking to work that I wasn't actually getting there any later because bike parking is more convenient for me than car parking. And it looks like you get to park inside your office, so that cuts time off quite nicely! :)
