How to buy euro and hold in US bank for later purchase
« on: May 27, 2022, 07:05:58 AM »
Looking for recommendations where to transfer USD to buy EURO at low fee.  Anywhere to trade USD to EUR online while favorable exchange rates?  Want to trade $100K-200K to euros.  Last I looked the bank added on a 5% fee for transfers..

Of course would need to transfer back to USD later date if the future purchase in Euros doesn't work out.

thanks for suggestions

You can try Wise's multi-currency account: https://wise.com/us/multi-currency-account/

I've used them for international transfers for a few years now. Worked perfectly fine every time.

If you are holding that much, you could also look into euro bonds as a way to play the exchange rate, too.  The ECB is signalling rate increases, though (*up* to 0%) so that would eat into values.  But their price in dollars should reflect exchange rates.  Keep it super short-term.
