How do you check if a Plumber has insurance?
« on: March 14, 2022, 11:21:20 AM »
Plumber burst a pipe at my house Thursday night, flooding several rooms with 2 inches of water. He immediately told us he's insured and promised his insurance would call tomorrow to discuss remediation.

We still haven't heard from his insurance, and he isn't answering the phone. His cell phone was another casualty of the flood, but I figured he'd have it fixed by now.

If I can't reach the plumber, is there any way I can look up who insures him? Utah, USA.

You should be able to start by verifying his license number via your state's website.

Try a google search and social media for additional clues to his identity/whereabouts.

If he doesn't reappear, you may have to resort to your own homeowner's insurance company. But act quickly, water in places it doesn't belong can quickly foster mold.

Sorry for the mess.

As Dicey said, go to your state contractor website and put in their license number. Also take pictures and keep a log of what happened, who said what, the date, time, etc. Just in case.
