New to this board, its massive.. any quick reccos?
« on: February 08, 2019, 08:55:26 AM »
Folks,
There is a lot of content and knowledge here. I read a lot of the info and general stuff, but a bit lost.

Where would you recommend reading or checking for a person on point 2 of the pole_ no loans, max 401k, paying mortgage, zero CC debt? Sorry if it's basic, TIA.

What do you want to get out of the forums? For investment priorities I would recommend the Investment Order post.

Welcome, Mustyaches! It is a bit overwhelming.

I would recommend the Case Studies board. You'll see lots of different kinds of advice, some of which may help you, and all of which together will give you a sense of the kind of people who frequent these forums.  The AntiMustachian Wall of Shame and Comedy is good for comic relief/schadenfreude.

@Mustyaches, ^that^ is sol, and we love him, because he is a treasure. Another trick is to click on someone's name and then on "Show Posts". You can see what threads they're following and read what they've written. Some folks mostly navel gaze in the journal section, but there are many others who hang out here in order to help others with the kind of help that you seek. They are amazing resources.

Just start reading, you will find people whose voices resonate with you and you will find your path. Oh, and forget the in-house search feature. Google is your friend. Journals aren't searchable outside the site, but once you're in the Journals section, it's easy to spot the most active ones.

Oh, and welcome!

How about, start with what your goal is and what you want to achieve? Then, people can direct you.

If you've already read all the MMM posts, I agree with "just start reading."  You could check out the "unread posts since last visit link" (https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/unread/) which shows you all most active threads with new replies and dive into something that catches your interest.

Once you've responded to a thread, new replies will show up at the link labeled "Show new replies to your posts." (https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/unreadreplies/).
