Help me find an e-bike! :)
« on: February 18, 2024, 12:22:39 PM »
Dear all,

I'd like to ask your help in finding an e-bike!

These are the circumstances, that I think might be relevant:
- 2 uses: city with lots of elevation and more rarely mountain trails - so I guess I should look for a city/mountain bike hybrid?
- Trips world mostly be between 5 and 10 km round-trip and could be up to 50 km maybe. However, I'm in hilly country.
- Can not put it in a sheltered place regularly unless it's  lightweight (staircase to the basement, I'm small and average strong) (could put a plastic hood on it if useful?) - what should I prioritize?
- If I cannot put it into the basement, I could leave it at my workplace garage in winter however.
- I would need to be able to take the battery off to charge it.
- I would like a durable and reparable bike and I'm in Europe if that's relevant.

What things should I look out for?
What might also play a role that I haven't thought of so far??

All global and specific advice is welcome!!!

Thank you for taking the time!

Well I'm in the US and there are a ton of budget level brands available here that are pretty decent but probably not available to you.

I'm not sure what your budget is but you really couldn't go wrong with Gazelle. They have many models and I'm sure one would fit your needs, they are great quality and that's what my next e bike will be. If you wanted to go super fancy, Riese and Muller is tops and they have some beautiful bikes but they are NOT cheap! Also, I wouldn't want to store one of those outside.

Not sure if that helps, keep us posted.

Rad Power Bikes is having a sale right now. I have a RadRover 6 and I'm very happy with it. Check it out. Bonus, use this code for another $50 off.
