Heating & Cooling Mini Split Systems
« on: September 02, 2014, 07:40:09 AM »
Does any have any experience with these systems? Our house doesn't have heat or A/C and I've heard about these systems. I was researching them yesterday and so far they looks pretty energy efficient. I've always hated central units. I LOVE the idea of being able to control each room individually. The only con that I can see so far is the upfront cost. They seem to be a little more expensive than a central unit from the reviews I've read.

Thoughts?

I just installed one to replace an old wall unit and I love it.  The mini split is good for our main living space, but I still supplement it with some window units in the bedrooms.  Mini splits are good for houses with open floor plans, but not if you have a lot of small rooms with closed doors.

I don't plan on using it to heat, because I have a baseboard hydronic system with different zones, which give me a lot of control.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
