Hail damage insurance claim
« on: May 05, 2020, 09:39:51 AM »
We had a number of speed dimples installed on our car by the hailstorm that came through our area yesterday. I didn't bother counting, but quite a few over the hood and roof. It's all cosmetic, so I doubt we'll have it repaired.

It's a 2015 Mazda 3 hatchback with low miles. Our insurance is through Geico with a $1000 deductible.

Should we make a claim? If we make a claim, is it likely by premiums will go up? Or maybe our premiums will go up regardless since the whole area will now be considered higher risk?

If we make a claim and don't fix it then will any panel with hail damage be excluded from future claims of any type, or only future hail damage?

Thanks!

Paint less dent repair is fairly cheap.  If you don't have dents all over the car doubt you'd come anywhere close to hitting at $1000 deductible.  My advice is wait a few months until the PDR guys are slow and pay $200 or $300 cash to get the car fixed.
