Sounds like you've put in a lot of work, but as you said, you "dont know what you're doing." So your work hasn't been as effective as it could be, or produced the results you want. Nothing wrong with that! The catch is, you have to learn what to do, though.
Hiring someone could potentially help, but it would also keep you from learning it yourself and it would cost a lot. Results won't be guaranteed, either, bc you'll have hired someone to do a task that may or may not be the task that needs doing. How do you know what your site really needs if you aren't sure what you're doing?
It sounds like you've got a strong purpose for your website (a need that you are filling) and a product to sell. What you need now is Website/Blog know-how. And there are lots of people willing teach you how--a little for free, and more for a price.
To know where to even start, I would recommend googling Jon Morrow and Ruth Soukup, then reading their free info on blogging, product production, and sales. They're pretty different so if one doesn't appeal, the other might. Their info might help you better decide what's worth you time, what you want to bother with, and where to start if you decide to continue.
Good luck! My personal opinion is, dont give up! You've come so far and your programs sound so helpful.
