A while back I authored a post and asked for tips relative to making a budget/net worth spreadsheet. I incorporated all the good ideas and then tinkered with my spreadsheet for about six months. I've automated (I think) as much as possible.

I figured I'd share it here. A couple notes:

(1) Manual data entry is required on the outside columns, which then all should automate itself to the middle. Income, assets, expenses should add up on their own. Average your line items throughout the year. Switch names and budget line items accordingly.

(2) My spreadsheet is for a dual income couple, but even if you are not joint income earners, the remainder of the spreadsheet is useful for couples.

(3) My fiance and I have yet to combine finances, so some things are separate (American Express, checking accounts, and a saving account) that might be joint for others. You also might want to create one "necessary" box and one "discretionary" box if you've combined incomes or you're single.

(4) Be careful adjusting my line items for liquid assets, as those contribute to the "CASH" box. Adjust that formula accordingly if you move around your liquid assets in the spreadsheet.

Let me know if you have any comments, questions, or ideas!

Cheers to the New Year!
