Foaming hand soap and body wash
« on: July 23, 2014, 11:42:19 AM »
I make my own foaming hand soap and body wash, but my soap dispensers are getting clogged up. I used both dial and softsoap dispensers, but they all eventually failed. I diluted the soap more and more, but they still eventually stopped working. Please give me some tips.

I use ~.5-1oz of any liquid soap mix up to 8oz of water. Never had any issues. I just use plastic dial foaming dispensers. On 2+ years with the same dispensers. The only time they've ever gotten clogged is if I didn't mix them well enough and some of the concentrated liquid soap got sucked up into the foaming chamber. Use hot water and mix well. Maybe mix it before putting the top on so none gets in the straw.

I use it for facewash too although I use more like a 1:4 ratio for it.

I use Method dispensers refilled with other soap at a 4:1 water:soap ratio and haven't had trouble with them clogging up.

The dawn soap foamers are the ones we like.  Refill before the are completely empty, and make sure the soap is completely mixed before pushing the plunger to avoid gloopping it up.

Just re-used a Trader Joe's bottle with a couple of tsps of pure and clear Palmolive.  I also worry about clogging and read adding a bit of oil or glycerin helps.  I happen to have a bottle of the latter so I added a couple of squirts.

I tried natural soap (Dr Bronner) but it wouldn't foam.  I use natural bar soap bits to make non-foam liquid soap.  That's for me as it doesn't really look that great though it works fine..  For visitors, I have the foam bottle.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
