Fidelity blocked my online account access
« on: September 23, 2016, 05:46:25 PM »
I wonder if anyone else has had this experience.  Fidelity blocked my account access because, apparently, they think a suspicious IP address accessed it.  In order to unblock my access, they want proof that every device I could possibly use to access my account has been professionally inspected and cleaned.

This occurred right after I moved to Florida.  I accessed my account at home and at work.  I think the work (military) computer is what triggered the security alert.  The military is not going to "inspect and clean" my computer so that I can satisfy some brokerage house, and I am not going to pay someone to look through my phone, iPad, and computer.

By the way, it does not matter to Fidelity that I use a different computer at home now.

My inclination is to close the account towards the end of the year.  I have 15 investment accounts at 6 different institutions.  None of the other 5 are blocking me, and I have not had any unauthorized transactions.  I want to wait until the end of the year when my whole life policies are paid off using my 2% Fidelity rebate credit card.

Then Fidelity can go fuck themselves.

i had something like this happen with Vanguard, but they made me get a notarized signature to prove who I was. What you are describing sounds impossible.
