Rebalancing/allocating with very different 401k accounts
« on: August 20, 2018, 07:54:20 AM »
I think I know the answer to this one. I have 4 different 401k accounts from different jobs. 3 Fidelity and 1 TRS. I haven’t rolled over to all one because my company is going through a merger. Will probably need to wait until after January 1 or later.

What I’ve found is that they all have similar offerings of funds and types of funds, the fees vary widely. Very widely. All have a low cost Vanguard Index fund for stocks. Only 2 have a low cost bond option. All of their Target Date funds are much higher cost.

So I’m going to look at the total amount, allocate my bond percentage across those two that have a low cost. The remainder in Vanguard Index option for those two. And the other two will be all stock.

The only problem being that my current job is one of them without a low cost bond option. So I would need to rebalance across my portfolio every quarter or so.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
