Feedback on Farmers Insurance?
« on: July 29, 2015, 10:51:52 PM »
Any feedback here from mustachians on Farmers Insurance?

I am reviewing my auto and homeowner insurance since I jsut bought a new car and am looking for several companies.

So far, I have quotes from State Farm, Geico, Liberty, Allied, Esurance...

I was leaning towards State Farm where their auto was attractive already for 2 cars where one is commute and other is pleasure.

But... when I went to the Farmers Insurance group their quotes is way cheaper with a policy numbers that are pretty much the same as others.

For example, their homeowners+auto policy stands at a price that is almost what others quote for homeowners!

So i ask for feedback about them... are they reputable? btw i dont think yhou need to be a farmer in order to have insurance from them lol...

Most quotes fell in around 400/500 dollars for the cars+500 dollars for the house insurance.

Farmers is about 600 for all of it. prices are yearly

Farmers is common around here, one of the major players, and they've been around for a long time. I've never used them myself, so no personal experience, but they're definitely not a fly-by-night.

And no, you don't have to be a farmer.:)

If you never make a claim any insurance will do.  Hell, if you never make a claim no insurance will do and is even cheaper.

But claims-wise Farmers is widely acclaimed Da Worst.  State Farm is bad, but Farmers is Da Worst.

Not just me sayin' that:

(note that this is not just general angry old man bitching: Farmers has the specific corporate policy of deny, delay defend as a path to higher profitability -- it is not alone in that, google McKinsey and Insurance for more on that)

Good insurance companies? Check the first link for ones with a better reputation.  Also, note that big advertising budget seems to be inversely related to claims handling integrity.

Farmers actually pay their claims, and quickly.  I'm happy with them.

Small claim or large claim?  It doesn't pay, according to McKinsey, to fight little claims like a wolverine.  Just give 'em a mild haircut and go.

Maybe it would be okay to be a Farmer's customer, but Farmer's was hell to deal with when one of their customers hit me.

I would never use them after that experience.

I've used them all my life. Had a few claims over the years and they were fine. No complaints.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
