Hey guys!
I recently started working for a big size company which offers different kind of insurances (health, meds, life, etc.).
The amount I have to pay for those is a puercentage of my salary which is taken straight from my paycheck.
I've been told that, as an employee, you don't really have a choice to take and pay for those insurances since the system is based on every employee's contribution. But I was wondering is this is true? Could I decide to cancel them/not pay for them and don't benifit or is it really obligatory?

Totally depends on the company. Have you seen anything in writing on this.

Is one option an HDHP that would allow you to open an HSA?

If youbare in America, the ACA will require you to have insurance to avoid a tax penalty. That may figure in. Life insurance though those big companies can be an alright deal though.
