Cheapest iPhone plan
« on: July 18, 2017, 09:01:16 AM »
My job requires a smart phone. I've had an iphone for a years on a family plan with my parents, but I'd like to pay less (currently $70/mo). Is there a good, cheap smart phone plan out there? Still with 10+ gigs of data?

What could you possibly need to do that uses 10 GB of data?

That amount of data is unreal.
Unless you are watching Netflix on your phone while laying on your sofa.
Not even streaming music all day.

Do you know your phone has WiFi too?

No, there's not really a plan that will let you do 10+GB of data per month for much less than $70/mo.  Does your job require a smartphone, or does your job require 10gb of data on a smartphone?

The closest you could get would be 22GB on AT&T's prepaid plan, which I think is $65/month.

I have at&t's go phone plan that is $40/mo if you set up autopay, 6G of data, with the previous month's unused data available the next month.  Just need to buy a $5 sim card and have an at&t phone.

I have the old $60 with 8 GB which rolls over.  The OP (and others) might find this handy.  I'm not sure exactly how accurate it is, but it should give them a general idea of how much data they actually need over what they think they need:

It's funny, because streaming TV and music is completely asinine as well. Do people not understand that a smartphone is capable of holding all of that content without streaming?

https://www.cricketwireless.com/cell-phone-plans (Also a subsidiary of AT&T, like the GoPhone plans.)

$50/month would get you 8GB. $60/month gets you 22GB without a reduction in speeds. (You can save another $5/month if you enable AutoPay.)

My friend is on Cricket and uses ~12GB/month. He watches YouTube on his phone all day at work. Somehow. Does your job require the same kind of video watching? And you cannot add WiFi access information to your phone?

If your job requires a smartphone then your employer should provide you with one.

Straight Talk is about $48 with all taxes.  8GB/mo.

Are you able to reduce that data use somewhat?

The biggest savings will be made from cutting data use. :)
