Certificate of Credit Union Paid Insurance Letters
« on: January 08, 2016, 10:23:39 PM »
Can anyone tell me about this? I always get these letters (i guess once or twice a year) from my 2 credit unions. It says to fill out the form for $2000 of credit union paid coverage at no cost. It says I can add additional coverage and that I would pay for (yeah not doing that), but what's the catch if I just take the free coverage?

EDIT: The   coverage is for Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance

They are hopeful you will buy more insurance through them but you don't have to.  It only covers AD&D (which most people manage to avoid).

As to no cost..... nothing is free.  The credit union is paying from someone's money :)

It's just a sales tool. Watch out for removing the "free" part after some period of time. No catch beyond watching your mail, and not falling for the expensive upsell.

I thought the catch was you had to die to collect it.  I hate that part.
