CC product change
« on: June 08, 2020, 06:37:17 AM »
I have Chase Sapphire preferred, freedom and unlimited. If I product change from CSP to freedom, am I allowed to have 2 of the same card and can if sign back up for the bonus for both cards later? Seems easier just to cancel CC's once done with bonus as I do 1p/2p and have other cards with long credit history.

I *think* you can have two Freedom or Freedom Unlimited cards.

You cannot get two Sapphire cards at the same time (even if different varieties).  You can only get a bonus on Sapphire cards every 4 years (use to be 2 but they caught on to us.)  So if you product change your CSP you won't be able to get either a CSP or CSR until 4 years after you got the last bonus.

Some people are now product changing to the CSR or CSP because of the new Pay Yourself Back option.  Only useful if you have a stash of UR points and no travel plans.  See below if you don't know what I mean:

Yes, you can have two Freedom/FU cards but only if one is a downgrade. You can't sign up for a new one and get the bonus if you already have one.
