Is the value of the miles the same for booking airline travel as it is just converting it to account credit? I am trying to explain to my GF that telling to apply to statement credit automatically is the same as holding on to it and buying an airline ticket, in fact slightly better because less money out of the account == slightly more interest in savings, and the miles/rewards aren't earning any interest sitting there until the end of the year.
