Black flies at Ticonderoga?

Fort Ticonderoga opens the weekend of May 6 and 7, and I wanted to take a trip there (from the mid-Hudson valley) on May 8 or 9. Is anybody up that way in the Adirondacks who can say whether or not the black flies will be out?
