Bikes Direct/ Motobecane bikes?
« on: February 24, 2019, 08:00:58 AM »
Anyone have an experience with bikes direct/ Motobecane bikes?  I'm thinking about getting the 529HT http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/mountain_bikes/529ht_29er_mountainbikes.htm

I know first action should be Craigslist! ;-)
Short backstory...I used to be a pretty hardcore mtb'er, had a few different hardtail 29er's in the 1k range. Then we had kids and I discovered mustachianism, most trails were an hour drive away so I sold them, gave it up and bought a quality highbred commuter type. Now we have some local trails, kids are getting older and I'm getting the itch. Want to get back into it with not an expensive bike, this looks like something that could handle some light duty trails and thrash around the neighborhood and city streets well enough. Thoughts?

*last year I bought an old 26" cannondale for $75 off CL and rode quite a few trails with it and it held up pretty well, so I know I don't need another 1k priced bike to shred and put a smile on my face :-). I don't really want to spend more than $400. Thanks!

I don't know how their MTBs are, but the Motobecane road bikes always seem to get good reviews. I've seen a couple on group rides and asked people how they liked them, and they were all happy with what they got.
