Best way to vacation in France? pt. 2
« on: March 15, 2016, 11:17:06 AM »
I posted a year ago (http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/ask-a-mustachian/best-way-to-vacation-in-france/) about a trip my wife and I were planning on going on, but it never happened.

Now we're going.  We've got our 2 weeks off in the middle of June and have saved up a good amount of $ to make this trip happen.

I'm wondering though if there is any way to travel to Paris for $1,000 per person?!

I understand that travel is expensive and I don't have a problem spending $4000 on the whole trip, but I'd hate to spend half of it just flying there and back?!

Additionally I'm wondering if the recommendations in the previous thread (posted above) still hold water or if there are other recommendations people have?!

Kayak.com can answer what all the airfares are for that period of time...Mid June is firmly in the high demand window.  From Chicago I would be happy to see $1250 fares.

I have also had good luck using Google flights to find fares. There is a way to see them on  bar graph which makes it easy to compare prices across dates.

High season to Europe at this point - it may be challenging to find flights under $1000. However, I am taking my kids mid-August and was able to get flights for about $850 a couple of months ago.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
