Banks that Pay Us?
« on: April 28, 2015, 07:16:45 AM »
Hey all,

With respect to cash, second only to getting it for free is getting it for doing nearly nothing. For that reason I have been banking with Santander - they have been adding $20 to my savings account per month just to have a certain $amount of direct deposits and using their bill pay service. Unfortunately, their bank is closing all branches in my state. I'm looking to open a new checking account with a bank that will supply me with quite a bit of cash with just as little effort. Santander amounted to $240 a year ... does any other bank come close?

Thanks for the recs

JLee

I got $250 to open an account with Chase, but I'm not aware of any that pay you monthly. I'd love to know, though - my credit union started charging everyone $3/mo. :(

You might try a Kasasa account (kasasa.com).   They used to have a guide to finding a bank that services your zip code, but I don't know what happened to it.  These are rewards checking accounts that require you jump through hoops (debit card purchases, e-statements and the like) for very high interest rates.  You can try googling Kasasa account + your zip code or state...?

depositaccounts.com is the de-facto for finding bonuses and rates.

Personally, I've found that chasing this type of thing and opening and closing accounts just becomes way more hassle than it's worth. The reward checking account you're referring to is generally something that comes and goes.

Opening accounts for the bonus is a different story and requires minimal work/headache.

Yeah, I'm not looking to jump through hoops, I'm only looking for a checking account (or checking+savings combo) that will give me hundreds of dollars, whether just by opening the account, or having direct deposits. I'll check some of these links

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
