Backpack cleaning
« on: August 18, 2014, 06:09:49 AM »
Hi everybody,
I was recently given a waterproof (resistant?) nylon Mountainshmith knapsack. It is a few years old and a very nice pack. However the prior owner left a lot of spoiled food in the pockets and I wish to clean the pack without ruining it. Any ideas?

Warm water and laundry detergent...handwash in the tub.  Is there a frame?  If yes, hang to dry.  If no you can probably turn it inside out and tumble dry on low or no heat.

I'd also look up care instructions on the company's website or call customer service if you're worried about ruining it.

Hi Mak,
Thanks for suggesting what I should have thought of myself. In case this issue ever comes up for others, here is a link to a website explaining how to wash them http://www.ispeakofcongo.org/mountainsmith-backpacks-tips-in-washing/. Basically put the item in a tub, clean with fragrance free detergent, then air dry.
