Babysitting Co-Ops
« on: November 06, 2017, 03:32:45 PM »
How does one go about finding these? I've seen them mentioned as a way to occasionally enjoy a night out without the baby. We have an 8 month old and would be delighted to watch a few other littles in exchange for getting out ourselves once a month, but none of the other parents we know seem to do this kind of thing or be willing to entertain the idea (high COL area, most have nannies who babysit extra if needed, etc). Anyone know where to look? May also be a way to meet like minded other parents :)

We didn't go looking for one, we started a small babysitting co-op. I was relatively new to town when my kids were babies and didn't know many people. Whenever i met someone with young kids, I would mention that I didn't know many people and would love to go out on occasion without breaking the bank. We got about 5 families involved and would watch each others kids about once a month or every other month. Once our kids hit later elementary school years, we could just one of our kids friends if our kids could stay with them if we went out. It worked out great for years.
