Anyone use FreedomPop cell phone?
« on: March 22, 2014, 12:09:59 PM »
I was checking these guys out and they are now offering smartphone plans for $4.60 a month (unlimited phone including voicemail, unlimited text and 10Gb data).. You have to buy a phone for $110 approx. You have to pay for 2 years upfront.

They appear to run on the Sprint network which I know gets acceptable coverage at my house, but not great.

This seems quite a deal even better than the $10 a month Airvoice Wireless.

Is this too good to be true or am I missing something?

My wife uses the free plan, and I have one sitting in a drawer in case I ever need a backup phone.

The call quality is mediocre, but you get what you pay for.  We appreciate having free phone service for her.
