Anyone have recent experience with Sofi Mortgage?
« on: December 05, 2017, 09:00:40 AM »
Our current mortgage is 2 years into a 30 year loan with Wells Fargo, but for a number of reasons I'm fed up with them and they can bite me. I have my student loan with Sofi and have had nothing but good things to say. Their mortgage program looks like it would increase our loan's rate by .375% but would get rid of our monthly $160 PMI payment 5-6 years early with no closing costs.

Anyone have any experience with Sofi Mortgage or any opinion on whether this is a good idea generally? Any other recommendations?

They have run numbers on mortgages for us. We have not bought yet.

I can say that their interest rates are the same (or very, very close) as our local lender, but not having closing costs is an almost $5K savings.

Thus far they have been very easy to work with and prompt to respond. I contacted them today after a multiple month break in conversation and we had a phone call and email update from them in under an hour.

I don't have anything beyond that but would love to hear if anyone else has mortgage experience with them.

I did notice Better Mortgage (better.com) is advertising better rates so I am touching base with them as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I did end up having them run the numbers and I decided I didn't want to spend several thousand dollars in taxes just on spite. That said, they seem competitive and the sales rep was easy to deal with/not pushy. Just ran the numbers, answered my questions, and was on his way. I really appreciated that.
