another 401K question
« on: April 09, 2015, 10:04:03 PM »
I am currently contributing 10% per paycheck to my 401K invested with Vanguard Growth fund and Vanguard small cap index fund (50/50) through John Hancock with no employer match. I am ready to max it out this year but the fees are about 1.06%.

Should i invest my money somewhere else or the tax advantage will outweigh these costs long term?  we are at a 25% tax bracket and spouse dont have 401k offered at his work.

Any other low fee options? List your options and you will get some good advice here.

1.06% seems really high for vanguard funds.   Both of these are listed as 0.24% on vanguards website???

Generally you should max fund the 401k. The tax benefits will outweigh the expense ratio.

Also consider funding a Roth IRA / IRA if possible as well.
