Porting from Page Plus to Google Voice?
« on: October 29, 2015, 09:13:21 PM »
I've looked around and haven't really seen any definitive information out there. Last I heard was that you can only port to GV from the "big four" (Att, Tmobile, Sprint & VZW) and nobody else, even the subsidiaries.

Has anyone been able to recently port to GV from Page Plus though? I'm considering doing this so I'm not locked into PP in the long-term. At first, I was avoiding the $20 fee but I figure it's probably worth it considering the portability and freedom I'd have moving forward.

The short answer is yes it's possible, but only sometimes.

It appears to be dependent upon the rate center and the previous carrier, from what I've gathered. Here's the nutshell process and caveats to be aware of:

Beyond that, you may need to do an intermediary port with T-Mobile Prepaid if a direct port doesn't work.

Personally, I'd not fool with GV, it can create just as many issues as it creates "solutions" to for other things. Don't switch carriers just to switch carriers, stick with a solid MVNO that you can stay with and just port the number to them when the time comes.
