Alternative to the book 'Boundaries'?
« on: November 17, 2017, 10:48:37 PM »
I picked up a copy of Boundaries by Cloud and Townsend, as it's recommended often here and I think it could be useful in the near future with a parent that's bad with money.  However it's VERY Christian focused, which I didn't realize.  I can work with a slightly religious angle, but it's a bit over the top for my tastes.  This pretty much sums up how the book seems to be headed:

"Our goal is to help you use biblical boundaries appropriately to achieve the relationships and purposes that God intends for you as his child."

Nothing against that, just not quite what I'm looking for.  Was just wondering if anyone is familiar with a similar book?

Yeah, it's definitely Christian. Many nonChristian members of the forum just ignore those parts, because we find the rest worth it.

Any material on codependency fits. I like Cloud on his own, Harriet Lerner, Melody Beattie. Those are all older references; I'm not hip to newer ones.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
