Advice on getting the most out of a volunteer gig?
« on: October 29, 2017, 10:58:24 AM »
Hi all, I'm hoping to start volunteering for a non profit next month and I'm looking for some advice on how to use this opportunity as a step toward a new career. I'm passionate about the cause and the organization is well established in my area so I know it will be a great learning experience but I am super green to all of this. I'm in the middle of a work sabbatical so I have tons of time to devote to learning. I'm just so nervous because while I hope it can be a way to get my foot in the door, I'm unsure if volunteering can lead to a full time job. If nothing else, I guess I'll have the experience to take with me elsewhere. Does anyone have any tips? Have other people turned a volunteer gig into a paid one?
