Additional income question
« on: October 28, 2015, 02:18:03 PM »
So I've applied to become an Uber driver (should be no problem as I have a spotless driving background) as part time work to help me pay down my student loans faster.  I was wondering if any one else had any additional side jobs that they know of that can be worked part time for additional income?  I can't really do any side work in my career field because I just started out and don't have the experience or skills to do these jobs.

Any number of things are possible to earn a few bucks on the side. You could paw through the recently donated books at your local thrift stores to see which ones are underpriced compared to their Amazon value, buy them, and resell them. You could do tutoring for students at a nearby school. You could become a handyman, fixing things on nights and weekends. You could find a part-time job in food service. You could apply for part-time jobs that are popular with students, since they tend to have somewhat flexible hours.

Think about it for a few minutes, something will come to you.

I worked part-time for UPS once and it wasn't too bad.  They have several different shifts that are like 4-5 hours a day, M-F.  They provide health insurance and tuition assistance if you're a student.  It's hard manual labor and fast paced but the time goes by pretty quick.

Before driving for Uber, or any other such service, find out about insurance.  It would really suck to get in a wreck and not be covered because personal auto insurance doesn't cover driving for hire.

I love to flip things on Ebay!  They can be things you have in your closets/cupboards you don't use anymore, or something you find in a thrift store, or a gift you received but really never liked!  I have flipped a necktie I've found for $1 for $70!   It's amazing!  Take good pictures and give good descriptions (w/measurements).  I can average $500 a month with very little effort.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
