(Book) - The Truth About Money

Anybody read this?

Figured since I'll either be investing a ton of extra money or buying a home in the next few years, I should probably start reading up on things beyond 'save money good, spend money bad.' Apparently finance is complicated. So I'm on page 70 ish of an older version and he's talking about Ginnae Maes and Revenue Munis and Taxable Bond Funds ... is this worth it to learn? I feel like this chapter alone could be material for a college final exam. Is all this relevant or will I end up just dumping all my investment money into one of 5-10 standard Vanguard Funds everyone uses?
