This is Either Sad, Stupid or Really Funny
« on: May 19, 2013, 12:36:49 PM »
Warren Brown wrote about a new SUV. The title said how buying this car would save you money. Really? I thought NOT buying a car saved money.

Brown writes that a Ranger SUV would cost $60-70K. If you instead purchase the one Brown is reviewing, you would "save" $35K.

$35K??!!??!!

Or, I could just not buy it at all and retire a lot earlier!

Holy cow.

On a related note, I saved fifty cents today by running after a bus.

I should have saved a few dozen dollars by running after a taxi.
I could settle for a less than ordinary life, but I feel like I was meant for something better.

Just think how much you could save by buying a $1.5M house instead of a $5M house!  That's enough to retire on in style.
Some will sell their dreams for small desires
Or lose the race to rats
Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere
To relax their restless flight

I read it on paper. I wanted to include the link, but the Wash Post site was not making it easy to find.

I looked again, and it's there. There must have been a delay between when it showed up in print and when it got added to the website:

"You pay $83,000 or more for a Land Rover Range Rover sport-utility vehicle because you are looking for something other than transportation.

Otherwise, you’d save at least $37,000 and buy the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4..."
