Title: The choking stench of burnt money
Post by: Cali on March 24, 2018, 05:48:04 PM
My car died last month. It was wonderful and I miss it but it has since been replaced. The day it got towed I ended up having to rent a car for the day because it was too last minute to sort rides, etc.

Imagine my delight when I go to cancel AAA and discover my membership would have covered a free one day rental car.

*sigh*

Anyone else have examples of missed money-saving opportunities like this?

I cancelled my visa platinum earlier this year, then two month later we booked a family holiday in Europe. Now travel insurance will cost $200, when it would have been free if I’d booked the flights on my platinum card.

Re Visa Platinum: which card did you have?  I often find myself berating myself for not buying travel insurance.  (I'm queen of planning at the exact moment of surprise hurricanes and snowstorms.)

If it makes you feel any better, not buying travel insurance is an option...

That did cross my mind.
