So Many Disclaimers
« on: November 29, 2023, 06:39:28 AM »
The disclaimers at the bottom of this article are about half the length of the piece - https://www.thepennyhoarder.com/save-money/money-secrets/

For those who don't want to click, it's the big secrets to money that the rich almost never share. Like:

 - Use this app
 - Use this other app
 - Here's a great app

Point is, the very rich use apps, and if you're not, then you're a dingus.

DOC has the same Discover link but with a $100 bonus. The rest (besides maybe Sofi which i already have) sound like fee-laden junk but I admit to not reading all the fine print.

These "simple super secret insider tips the elite don't want you to know" articles are funny. I guess it plays on people's FOMO, and a sense that the system is stacked against them. Which, of course, it is, but not in the way they think. No one gets rich by buying a bunch of products and services. That's so... American.

The Vio Money Market account is actually really good advice - we've kept our liquid funds there for the past four years or so. The rates lately have given me absolutely zero interest in CDs or bonds - I believe December's is down a touch from 5.3% APY to 5.17% APY. I would recommend them for sure.
