oh boy I've been up and down on this. We just bought a house in February so there's a lot of necessary buying made a whole lot more difficult by the second hand shops being closed or not safe.
Some notables:
One miserably sick and insomnia filled night I pity bought a metal fire container/pit and all the s'mores fixings. Ordered them shipped right to the door.
We impulse bought a discounted Kitchen Aid mixer (I've mentioned it on other threads, sorry if you've seen this before) on a rare in person Walmart trip. No planning. No research. Just, dang, that's a good price. We like to bake and cook!
And this is the worst one. I ordered a new easy cleaning cat litter box and a rug for under it. Sure it's nice, but what we had was completely adequate. The other things all served a new purpose at least... but that cat litter box was completely unnecessary.
Ah well. What's done is done. We're using the heck out of those things. We also did a lot of camping gear buying but those things were discussed ahead of time. Our other budget areas are stable or even reduced, so a bit extra to make home and outdoor activities more comfortable is appropriate... but it sure is a change from our previous very tight fisted ways.
Oh, we bought an amazon Echo Show. It was planned and discussed, but still feels like a huge splurge. We love it. I thought I didn't listen to music because I was bored with music. No. It just sounded like crap. The Echo show sounds so good, we catch ourselves laying on the floor in the living room just to finish a concerto before bed. So lovely. Bonus: on rainy days we let the cat watch youtube videos on it and that is worth every penny.
